Barnabas Missions is WMB’s expression of local outreach. Our community of disciples seeks Kingdom transformation in Kitchener-Waterloo as we engage in local mission focussed on serving people who are marginalized – specifically those experiencing poverty, refugees and new Canadians. Ministries

Barnabas every nation / Refugee Ministry

Offering a church family to new-comers

Jesus ransomed us for God from every tribe and language and people and nation (Rev 5:9). At WMB Church, individuals and families who have recently arrived in Canada are welcome! We strive to demonstrate the family of God for new-comers and refugees. We do our best to make the needed connections for housing, practical, financial and relational supports through our partnership with Compass Refugee Centre and a network of hosts and other volunteers. Above all, we want to demonstrate God’s love for His people.

Barnabas Individual Supports

Journeying toward holistic, long-term wellbeing

Through Barnabas Individual Supports, WMB Church invests in the lives of people in our community who are facing financial difficulty and are also committed to seeking long-term well-being and a better financial situation for themselves. We know this can be a difficult journey, so we want to be there for participants every step of the way. We provide financial assistance while walking with program participants through regular one-on-one meetings where trained Barnabas Coaches from WMB Church work with participants to prepare realistic budgets, set goals, offer encouragement and pray.

Barnabas North Waterloo

Creating spaces to belong, believe and become in North Waterloo

The focus of our North Waterloo branch of Barnabas Missions is creating opportunities to build relationships with people living in low-income neighbourhoods near our Waterloo site through a variety of fun, skill developing programs for all ages. Our hope is that through building personal relationships and trust, we’ll have opportunities to invite people into the life and community of WMB, and ultimately, into a relationship with Jesus.

Barnabas Victoria Hills

Creating spaces to belong, believe and become in Victoria Hills, Kitchener

Victoria Hills is a high density, high immigrant, low income neighbourhood in Kitchener. Barnabas Victoria Hills began with the launch of The Dwelling Place, a church plant of WMB formed in the year 2000. Now, under the leadership of WMB Church, Barnabas Victoria Hills includes a vibrant array of programs and activities that seek to give newcomers to Canada a place to belong and opportunities to believe and grow in Jesus. Programs take place online or in-person at the Victoria Hills Community Centre.
