Thursday, September 30, 2021, marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the lost children and Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. The public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
On Thursday we have the opportunity to join together in prayer over Zoom. Mary Ellen Tierney (Director, Barnabas Victoria Hills) will host her monthly “Indigenous Concerns” prayer meeting at 12 noon, and we invite you to join us. We’ll break off into small groups to pray through various recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Final Report. As followers of Jesus, we are called to live out the Kingdom values of truth and reconciliation, and we ask for the Lord to lead us as we reflect on this history and pray for our community.
