BARNABAS MISSIONS

Barnabas Missions is WMB’s expression of local outreach.

Our community of disciples seeks Kingdom transformation in KW as we engage in local mission focussed on serving people who are marginalized – specifically those experiencing poverty, refugees and new Canadians. Learn about our different Barnabas ministries and opportunities to get involved below.

Barnabas Individual Supports

Journeying toward holistic, long-term wellbeing

Through Barnabas Individual Supports, WMB Church invests in the lives of people in our community who are facing financial difficulty and are also committed to seeking long-term well-being and a better financial situation for themselves. We know this can be a difficult journey, so we want to be there for participants every step of the way. We provide financial assistance while walking with program participants through regular one-on-one meetings where trained Barnabas Coaches from WMB Church work with participants to prepare realistic budgets, set goals, offer encouragement and pray.

Barnabas North Waterloo

The focus of our North Waterloo branch of Barnabas Ministries is creating opportunities to build relationships with people living in low-income neighbourhoods near our Waterloo site through a variety of fun, skill developing programs for all ages. Our hope is that through building personal relationships and trust, we’ll have opportunities to invite people into the life and community of WMB, and ultimately, into a relationship with Jesus.

Barnabas every nation / Refugee Ministry

Jesus ransomed us for God from every tribe and language and people and nation (Rev 5:9). At WMB Church, individuals and families who have recently arrived in Canada are welcome! We strive to demonstrate the family of God for new-comers and refugees. We do our best to make the needed connections for housing, practical, financial and relational supports through our partnership with Compass Refugee Centre and a network of hosts and other volunteers. Above all, we want to demonstrate God’s love for His people.

Urban Ministry

The vision of Urban Ministry is to break down the walls of “us and them”. Our dream is to see people become brothers and sisters through ADOPTION in Christ and experience the wellbeing the family of God has to offer! We aim to accomplish this dream through PRESENCE & RELATIONSHIP both in our church and neighbourhood. The Kitchener Site neighbourhood has many challenges like homelessness, addiction & displacement. Urban Ministry invests in caring for individuals through equipping people to be intentionally present and establishing healthy relationships in our neighbourhood and with our agency partners like Ray of Hope Community Centre & Safe Families.
