Membership is a call to a shared discipleship journey and partnership in fulfilling the vision and mission of WMB Church. Membership, as defined in WMB's Church Covenant, identifies a common bond with all other members at WMB Church and those who sign our Church Covenant are identified as those who hold a decision-making role in our WMB Church family.
A Biblical Reason
Christ is committed to the Church. “…Christ loved the church, and He gave His life for it.” (Ephesians 5:25)
A Cultural Reason
It is an antidote to our society’s aversion to commitment. We live in an age where commitments – to a job, a marriage, our country – are easily and often taken lightly. This attitude has produced a generation of “church shoppers and hoppers.” Membership swims against the current of “consumer religion.” It is an unselfish decision. Commitment always builds character.
A Personal Reason
It produces spiritual growth. The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. In becoming a member of a local church, we formalize our commitment to Christ and to one another.
A Practical Reason
It defines who’s entitled to a vote in legal decision-making processes, like affirming Church Council members or approving a budget.
Becoming a Member
We require that you attend WMB prior to becoming a Member, and then participate in the following process:
This Is WMB: This course introduces adults to our mission, vision, strategies for discipleship and the role of membership at WMB Church.
Membership Interviews: Share your faith story with a member of our Church Council.
Membership Sunday: Participate in a special service to welcome new members.
