Engaging Poverty: Seeking Shalom – Follow Up Session
In February, Stefanie MacGregor spoke to us about how we can seek shalom, or flourishing, for people and communities living in material poverty. We discovered that traditional charity is often about the exchange of a single material resource, in a specific moment in time, between strangers. Traditional charity most often focuses on providing comfort to poverty, but does little to actually end poverty. In contrast, we learned that seeking shalom involves authentic relationships, inviting those we wish to help to gather around the table and offer their skills and talents. Seeking shalom is about pursuing long term health and well-being, not just distributing resources.
In this additional session, Stef will help us engage in further discussion and practical ideas of putting these ideas in action. Please join us by registering today here.
