God’s command to care for the widow, the orphan and the foreigner – the marginalized among us – is clear throughout scripture. But what does the Bible have to say about how we care for the materially poor? Each year, millions of dollars are poured into poverty relief – often with little long-term impact, and sometimes damaging effects on communities. Our hearts are full of compassion. We want to help. How can we work to alleviate poverty in ways that help communities to flourish – socially, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually? Join Stefanie MacGregor (Director, Barnabas North Waterloo) for this six-week course to learn how we can engage not only our hearts, but our minds, as well, in co-creating thriving communities. Video resources created by Christian community development organization Focused Community Strategies will guide our learning.
